What is Table Rate Shipping?
Table rate shipping uses a table to calculate the cost of shipping. Either the total cost or the total weight of the order can be used to calculate the cost of shipping. Additional items can be added to the table, such as taxes, a handling fee, shipping zones and order sorting. This enables a shipper to set a more unified cost for shipping.
Shipping Table
When calculating the final cost of shipping, the table can either use the total cost or the total weight of the order.

Additional Options That Can Be Included in Shipping Tables
Handling Fee: Another column can be added to the table to include a handling fee. This can be added to every order regardless of the total cost, weight or number of products ordered. This amount is a set amount and will not change.
Tax Class: An additional column can be added which would apply the proper tax to the order before the customer sees it.
Shipping Zone: This option can be applied so that a customer would only see shipping rates based on the area they live in.
Order Sorting: This option can be added so when the customer sees the order it is sorted by the quantity of items ordered. For example: items with lower quantities ordered would be at the top of the screen, with quantities ordered at the bottom. So all items with a quantity of (1) would be at the top, then following with items with a quantity of (2), and so forth.
Module Weight Unit: This is added only when the table rate calculation is based on the total weight of the order. It adds the weight of each product to the table.
