What is the Best Way to Clean Black Appliances?

Black appliances are coated with a thin coat of black shiny paint that provides a beautiful shiny finish. However, this shiny finish is easily dirtied due to fingerprints and other smudges that easily show through. You will need to clean your black appliances often to keep them looking shiny and beautiful.

Commercial Window Cleaner

  1. Purchase any brand of commercial window cleaner from your nearest home improvement or general store. They all have essentially the same ingredients, so it does not matter which one you choose.

  2. Spray down the surface of your appliance in sections, and then wipe clean with a lint-free cloth or paper towel until the surface is clean and shiny.

  3. Continue this process in sections. You do not want to spray down the whole appliance at once because by the time you get to the last side, the cleaner will have dripped down to the bottom and will begin to evaporate from the surface. Do one side at a time.

Vinegar & Baking Soda

  1. Add a quarter-cup of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of baking soda into an empty spray bottle using a funnel to be sure that all of the ingredients end up in the bottle and not on the counter.

  2. Fill the rest of the spray bottle with regular tap water, and then shake the bottle to mix the ingredients together.

  3. Spray down your appliance with this mixture one side at a time, wiping clean with a clean lint-free towel or paper towel.

  4. Continue this process until the entire surface of your appliance has been cleaned.

Tip: Never use any type of abrasive cleaning products on the surface of your black appliances. You can easily damage the surface of the paint.
