What to Do When Water Supply in the Home is Interrupted
Water is vital to your health. In our homes, you need water to drink but also to do dishes, bathe, shower and wash our clothes. It is important to remember that if your water supply is cut off for an extended period of time, you will be notified before hand. Make the proper preparations to ensure you have plenty of water in this event.
Buy bottled water: Stocking up on bottle water can help you have water on hand during the time water isn’t coming through you pipes. Also, if you have large enough buckets, pans and jugs in your home you can put the water in these before its shut off to spare yourself the extra-added expense. If your water is shut off at a moments notice it would be necessary to buy bottled water.
Use hand sanitizer: This is a great item to have around when you don’t have water to wash your hands with. In those situations such as those times when you water is shut off, hand sanitizer can come in handy. Keep it in stock in your home, have it in the bathrooms, in the kitchen, even carry it in your purse for those times when you just happen to be a bathroom in public that is having problems with running water.
Moist disposable wipes: These can be great in helping with personal hygiene without having water to clean yourself with. Hopefully you won’t be without water for too long that you can’t bathe or shower, still having moist wipes on hand will help you in those times where you do need to clean up while the water is turned off. These can come in different consistencies from thin to thicker depending on the type you buy.
Keep the above items stocked up in a place in you home. The reason for this is you never know when Mother Nature could cause you to be without a water supply. Earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes can not only cause us to be without electricity but also without water for a period of time, so stocking up will help you to be prepared for such situations.
