Where to Find Affordable Packing and Moving Companies
Moving into a new place can mean so many things for a person: starting over, a larger space, even a matter of convenience. It can be an exciting time, but also a time of frustration and exhaustion. Packing and moving is hard work, especially if this is your first time. Hiring an affordable packing and moving company is a wise decision for anyone who wants to take the hassle out of packing and moving.
Look in the local phone book and look for movers who claim to have the best prices. Write down 10 names and numbers and call each of them. Whittle the list down to the top three with the best prices and then ask each of them the following questions:
- Do you give discounts for first-time customers?
- Are there any discounts for moving on a particular day?
- If you are a vet, is there a discount for military people or veterans?
- If you provide your own boxes, can the price be lowered a little?
- Can you get a discount for paying cash or for paying early?
Ask anyone that you know who has recently moved and is currently on a tight budget. Better yet, ask that person whom you know that likes nice things and knows how to get the most for her money. Most likely, the moving and packing company that she chose isn't too expensive, plus they will do a great job.
With any company, check to see if it is with the Better Business Bureau before using it. That doesn't mean that if it is not that you shouldn't use the company's services, especially if you know people who have used the services before and haven't said anything negative about the company. It's always better to be safe than sorry, however, so check the company out to make sure its legit.
If a moving and packing company seems a little suspicious to you, leave it alone. Better to be delayed in the moving process, than to be delayed from life because you are in a small claims court trying to get back your possessions.
