Why Use a Safety Razor?
One of the many reasons that people use safety razors is because of the high cost of multi-blade razor cartridges. These are often so expensive that they aren't kept on the shelf; you have to ask a pharmacist for them from behind the counter.
- Many men that chose a safety razor over a double edge blade razor have fewer nicks and cuts from shaving. These little cuts often come about from allowing the blade to first make contact with the skin. With a safety razor, the safety bar will be the first thing that makes contact with your skin, making your shave more enjoyable with less irritation.
- Safety razors are significantly less expensive than an electric razor or a double edged blade razor. On average, twice as many of these razors as you can for a single package of double edged razor blade cartridges. This is a significant cost difference for many and well worth switching for.
- There are many blade styles that can be used with a safety razor. For most, a disposable safety razor is going to give you a closer shave that will keep the hair off your face longer than using an electric razor. Electric razors aren't always good for shaving the face unless you want to remove a full beard. The blades are too wide to use for trimming purposes.
- Women’s safety razors feature a longer handle than a man's razor. This is for an extended reach for leg shaving, or shaving the bikini line.
