Bings Bakery

I have been visiting Bing's Bakery in Newark since I was a small child. The aroma hits you the minute you walk in the door and hear a bell ring. As I grew older, Bing's was always the bakery to hit for cakes, danish and esp. fresh donuts on Saturday morning.\r\nEveryt...hing is made from all the wonderful ingredients you would expect and NEVER has a boxed cake mix been used in this place. Love, love their cakes and their butter cream frosting is to die for. The service has always been good and they have been quite helpful when the time to make a decision rolled around. And, they did make my wedding cake and after a year of being in the freezer, I ate the top layer by myself (in a few sittings) and it was as good as the first taste I had on my wedding day. My finace and i went to bings to get a cake for our wedding. The cake samples were OK. The basics, chocolate and vanilla were fine, but the other flavor types were too dry. However, our complaints come in with the service. During our consultation, I showed the "baker..." some pictures I pulled off of the internet, and in a very condescending and rude tone she says to me "Do you think your are on the cake boss?". I was appalled, but yet the appointment continued, and she showed me some cakes that she "might" be able to do. We left the bakery and she said she would call within a week with pricing information. HOWEVER, she NEVER called back, not event to tell me that they wouldn't be able to bake the cake. I thought that was extremely unprofessional. I took my SAME EXACT picture from the internet to another bakery called Sweets to You by Gingers Inc, in Wilmington, and they are going to make my wedding cake exactly how I want it. MY FAVORITE BAKERY EVER!!We've been going to bings for the past 11 years,not many bakeries make their goodies from scratch!My son's birthday cake this years was beyond belief!

My sister ordered her wedding cake from Bing's Bakery. It was supposed to be white with black scrolling (they called to verify the shade of black 3 different times!) and pink Gerber Daisies on it. Upon walking into the hall on her wedding day, we discovered that the cak...e was white, but there was no black scroll work on it and there were dead Hydrangea (which weren't even supposed to be there) where there were supposed to be Daisies! Thankfully, my sister's florist noticed this before the guests did, and fixed the flowers, but my sister was still very disappointed. Read More

I have traveled far and wide to find a bakery in Delaware that can compete with the fine bakeries in New York City, where I am from.

Finally, I have found a place in Newark, Delaware where I can get the quality and service that my family is accostomed to.

While all of Bing's products are top shelf, the carrot cake is the very best I have ever tasted.
