Cree to develop a more efficient line of LED lights

Jan 20, 2012

Many Americans have already made the switch to LED strip lights, rigid light bars and bulbs in hope of saving money. However, manufacturers are still working on additional ways to make their LED products more energy-efficient in an effort to keep up with the growing demand for green options.

Recently, Cree announced that it is developing a line of LED lights to maximize the amount of illumination produced per dollar. The company, which specializes in creating some of the most popular LED fixtures on the market, has introduced the XLamp. This item delivers twice the amount of lumens-per-dollar, meaning it gives off more illumination at a cheaper price.

"Being a leader means delivering revolutionary, not evolutionary, innovation to drive the LED lighting revolution," said Mike Watson, Cree's senior director of marketing. "With this new platform Cree has fundamentally redefined the price-performance paradigm for our components customers. It's not enough to just make LEDs brighter – it's also about improving product payback and market acceptance of LED lighting."

LED rope lights, strip lights and bulbs are an ideal way for homeowners and businesses to save money over time. These fixtures can reduce utility costs in addition to lowering the impact of carbon footprints.
