Basic Rules of Ultimate Texas Hold’Em

Oct 08, 2020

Ultimate Texas Hold’Em is in many ways similar to regular casino pokers, especially in the rules aspect. This is perhaps, why many players flock towards it. In Ultimate Texas Hold’Em, players play against the house instead of other players, and players need to have a solid strategy if they want to come out on top.

If you have seen people play this game at a casino poker game or even online, and you have been trying to understand what it’s about, we will be exploring some of its rules in this article.

THE RULES

The first thing is that you will be up against the dealer all the time as Ultimate Hold’Em is played against the casino. There might be a lot of other players at the table; you have nothing to do with them. Your goal is to beat the dealer. What happens to the other player is not your business.

When playing ultiamte holdem, the game round starts with two bets. These two bets that you must place are called the Ante and the Blind.

The ante and the blind always have the same value. So, if it’s a $5 game, the ante and the blind will be $5. You also have an optional bet that you can play with is known as Trips. Trips is a bonus bet that allows you to bet any amount up to the maximum bet, and it is not connected to antes and blinds directly.

After you have placed your bets, every player will be dealt two cards by the dealer. All cards will be facedown like in traditional Hold’Em, and the dealer too will pick two cards. You can look at your cards, and can do any of the following with your cards;

·        Check (passing action until the next betting round)

·        Bet 3x the ante

·        Bet 4x the ante

If you choose to check, you will be left with two options as the dealer will deal out the first three community cards (the flop). The two options you will have are check and bet 2x the ante.

If you choose to check again, the dealer will deal the last two cards, which are turn and river, and you will go into the final betting round. In that round, you will be left with only the fold option or 1x bet. Once the river is out, you cannot check again.

However, if you choose neither of the above two options and you bet the 3x or 4x after you have seen your hand, you will be left with no betting options while the dealer deals the river, turn and flop. After the hands, everyone will turn their hole cards over, and if your hand beats that of the dealer, you win the game.

These basic rules are important for everyone playing ultimate Texas Hold’Em.
