If you think that your dryer is broken, it could be, but it also could be the vent is clogged with lint.  I have been called numerous times from homeowners stating that their technician found nothing wrong with dryer but the dryer vent was the issue.
If the dryer vent is clogged with lint, it will make the motor run harder.  A lot of dryers have safety switches on that will turn the dryer off, pretty quickly, within 5 minutes or so if the dryer gets to hot.   If the vent is clogged there is no where for the heat to go.  It will stay inside the dryer and cause problemsSo here are a few signs of a clogged dryer vent.1. The top of the dryer is hot to the touch.  2.  It takes more than 45 dry a load of laundry.3.  If you go to the exterior of your house and the vent is reachable, put your hand over it, while the dryer is       running,  if you feel very little air flow or no air flow your vent is clogged.Remember a dryer that can breathe is a dryer that is happy.
