ICC T20 rankings: Mohammad Rizwan overtakes Babar Azam as top batter
Mohammad Rizwan is on top of the ICC ranking with 815 points.
DUBAI: A right-handed batsman Mohammad Rizwan has surpassed Pakistan captain Babar Azam as the top T20 batter, according to the most recent ICC T20 rankings, released today proved.
The Pakistani captain, who was in charge of the rankings for more than 1000 days, was relegated to second spot with 794 points because of his poor performance at the current Asia Cup 2022.

DUBAI: A right-handed batter Mohammad Rizwan has surpassed Pakistan captain Babar Azam as the top T20 batter, as the latest ICC T20 rankings, released today proved.
The Pakistani skipper, who controlled the rankings for more than 1000 days, fell to second spot with 794 points following a lackluster performance at the current Asia Cup 2022.
Rizwan at the top of the list with 192 runs across three games, while Babar has scored just 33 runs in the tournament.
The wicketkeeper was Pakistan's primary weapon using the bat during their games with Hong Kong and India, scoring both 78* and 70 respectively during their back-to back wins.
Rizwan is only the third Pakistan player to be ranked on the T20I charts after Babar as well as Misbah-ul Haq. Babar has been on highest of T20I charts for 1,155 days during his career (as of the 7th of September).
Other big changes have been made to the batting order, Pathum Nissanka has gained one position to climb to No 8following his impressive performance in the Asia Cup. Nissanka has scored scores of 35, 20, and 52 over the course of his recent three games in his latest outing aiding Sri Lanka beat India in the Super Four encounter.
Afghanistan player Rahmanullah Gurbaz is one of the most notable movers, moving up 14 spots to be No. 15, aided by his score of 84 in the match over Sri Lanka in the Super Four match. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is also up four places to No 13 after his 72-run win in the match against Sri Lanka.
On the charts of bowlers Sri Lankan and Afghanistan spinners have seen the most gains due to their outstanding performances. Mujeeb Ur Rahman's 2-30 performance has enabled him to climb three places and move up to joint No.6 alongside Akeal Hosein.
Maheesh Theekshana is at his financial highest throughout this year's Asia Cup, registering figures of 1/23 and 1/29 in the three final games. He was rewarded with a hefty sum.
He makes it in the Top Ten of the rankings, moving up five places to number 8. Shadab Khan also climbs one spot to 14th after 4/8 and 2/31 , against Hong Kong and India respectively.
