Introduction & Resurrection of the Camaro for Cleveland Chevy Drivers
It is one of the most iconic
muscle cars of its time and it has prevailed throughout the years, the Camaro
is a favorite among shoppers at our Cleveland area Chevy
dealership. Let's take a brief look at where it started and where it is
going.
The fist generation of this iconic car was introduced in 1967 and this body style lasted until 1969. It seemed as if racing was bred into the Chevy Camaro as the four-seater Z28 was headed for a Trans-Am racing championship. Outfitted with a ZL-1 aluminum-engine, drivers were hitting tracks everywhere.
In 1969, a specially detailed RS/SS 396 Convertible model was designed and became the pace car for the Indy 500. This is the extent of our Cleveland area Chevy dealership's true blast from the past because it is the spirit of this particular car that came back in the 2010 Camaro.
Looking Forward with the Camaro
In 2006 a concept Camaro resurrected a dormant icon. After it reared its head at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, muscle car lovers and gear heads began to get visions of the iconic 1960's Camaro again. In 2007, this concept car was featured in the 2007 Transformers film and fans demanded it become a reality.
A few years later and the 2010 Camaro made its way onto the scene. Sticking to the concept design, fans were delighted in its arrival. This later brought about the addition of a convertible and ZL1.
Today, the 2014 Camaro sports an extremely bold look in its coupe, convertible, ZL1, ZL1 Convertible, and Z/28 trims. It still boasts an immense amount of power with standard 323-hp, yet is much more fuel efficient at 30-mpg.
