A Store for Everyone!!
I shopped this store today and am grateful the owners maintain a pleasant atmosphere for everyone! My family and I (from kids to grandparents) have patronized Goodspeed's Station Country Store for over a decade. This locally owned treasure is going on over 20 years an...d has a strong following. They definitely know what they are doing. This store harkens back to a simpler time. The owners are kind and generous people who support American made and local artisans. You will finds something here for everyone! They carry an extensive collection of home and seasonal décor, candles, lighting, jewelry and accessories, unique books and cards. They have a diverse candy selection from old fashioned favorites to handmade truffles. Every kid in the community has grown up here over the candy counter and the owners know them all by name. There is a wonderful children's section with toys, books and clothing. I am a local Higganum resident and proud to call these kind owners and this business part of my community! If you appreciate quality and owners who care about their community and customers then this is the only place you will ever need to shop!! I have always had great experiences here!!
unfriendly towards children!
the owner of this store, a woman with brown hair, told me today that i was a bad mother because my 4 year old, well behaved and respectful, daughter knocked off a fabric santa hat atop of a well wrapped chocolate on a stick. the hat was not glued on and easily placed on... top. my daughter did nothing wrong in the store but play with some puppets and opened a few candy jar tops so that we may purchase some candy. she did not stick her fingers in there but pointed to the candy. the owner and the owners daughter followed us around like we were criminals. i felt horrible! i will never shop in a store where children are not welcome and feel liked we are being watched. i have taught both my children to be very respectful and contributing empathetic persons to society. i cannot believe that in this day and age any one could be so intolerant of harmless innocents. especially the owner who has a daughter herself. inexcusable and shameful. i will never shop here again!
