Overpriced and doen't honor their own coupons
We decided to try Tandoor for the first time because they had a coupon in the county's schools charity coupon book. After we ordered and got drinks the waitress notices we have the coupon on the table right before our food comes out.. and casually says they no longer a...ccept the coupons and the only explanation is that there is a sign on the front door! The coupon expired in February 2012 and this was early December 2011! Ok.. So you get free advertisements in a charity coupon book that people donate money for in exchange for coupons, and then decide you won't honor them anymore. The sign was 3 inches high, on the window 5 feet to the right of the front door, un-noticeably stating "No Coupons".... Anyway, that combined with poor service and overpriced merely decent food lost a repeat customer and we will pass the word to friends. However judging by the 4 whole tables occupied during the dinner rush on a Friday, Tandoor won't be around much longer for repeat customers. Tandoor shouldn't take advantage of a charity for free advertisement.
Negative Reviewers are Crazy
Every Meal I have had here has been 5 star. I have tried every Indian restaurant in Nashville and multiple others throughout the states and this is by far the best hands down. I am originally from Scotland and Indian food is almost the national fare so I feel I know wha...t I am talking about. Pros are as follows: It is the ONLY Indian that does lamb on its buffet. It has a buffet for lunch for 7 dollars every day. The evening meals are wonderfully presented and the kitchen will custom cook items not on the menu (we regularly ask for peshwari and keema nans with no problem. The owner comes out and greets customers. I don't know where previous reviewers ate but it was not this restaurant.
TERRIBLE SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT
Do not eat here! If your food is inedible, you shouldn't feel accused of trying to get a free meal from the manager. The manager came to our table very defensively when we said that a chicken dish my husband order was not as described. We had a miscommunication with ...out server in regards to how much spice was added to the dish. The server then told us she placed the order the way we had ordered it, but they did not follow the order's request. The manager was angry with us for trying to order a mild dish because they aren't a "corporate" restaurant. We did not even mention anything about corporate restaurants! My husband asked the server if the dish was possible to be ordered mild and the server said the dish actually had no spice to it. We tried to explain that the server told us the dish is not a spicy dish, but all he said to us was "WHAT DO YOU THINK INDIAN FOOD IS? INDIAN FOOD IS SPICY!" which I understand, but if it reads not spicy and told not spicy, then it is expected not spicy! So all he did was grab the dish and took it to the back and threw some rice into the container and brought the container back with nasty finger prints all over the box! We did not take the box home because we were quite sure he handled our food with his fingers...how else would his finger prints be all over the box!? Then he threw the box down our table and said..."All i did was throw rice in it!" and left, apparently that was supposed to fix our spicy issue. They wouldnt re-cook it. Not to also mention the meal took about 2 hours because service was awful. I would never return to a restaurant that cannot make good dish and have managers that are on the defensive and rude! TANDOORI IS TERRIBLE!
Definitly worth going to!!!
I have been to Tandoor a few times and have been very pleased. I actually drive about an hour and a half. once a month to eat there. The food is excellent and it has a wonderful atmosphere. They also have great service. My only problem with this restaurant is that ev...ery time I go there they don't have any samosas available. I would though, totally recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My Favorite Comfort Food
My husband and I frequent Tandoor every chance we get. We've moved to Nashville and we drive to Clarksville just to get a taste. Husband's dish of choice is Chicken Pasanda, a really flavorful dish with a delicious and fragrant sauce. I have trouble picking a favorit...e myself; I hope to try everything on the menu at least once. I go for the spicy Shrimp Vandallo or a new dish, Mughulai Chicken: it has a creamy sauce chock full of pistachios and golden raisins. Deeelicious. The owners are great people and we enjoy visiting with them as much as we enjoy the food. A great asset to Clarksville!
Excellent food coupled with memorable experiences
I strongly disagree with the other reviewer in describing Tandoor's food as "below average". She obviously isn't capable of appreciating any culinary delight that isn't accompanied by a potato of sorts and one trip to a salad bar. In my opinion, the food, atmosphere, ...and service far exceed any other restaurant in Clarksville. An exotic, memorable, and addictive menu makes this my first choice for a romantic evening out. And just what kind of an idiot would feed a two-year old child spicy indian fare and then feel the need to criticize the chef when he/she cries!!! Stick to Shoney's, Stormfaery! Kids eat free!
