I just recently had the screen on my MacBook Pro replaced here. I was a little hesitant at first because they asked $652 ($529 for the part, $75 labor, plus tax). My biggest concern was the fact that they absolutely refused to tell me where the part came from and how mu...ch they paid for it (I wanted to make sure that the new screen wasn't coming from some knockoff Apple factory in China). However, the work that they did was vey thorough, and when I picked it up they did finally disclose where the part came from AND how much they paid for it. Let me start by responding "EMPTY YOUR POCKETS NOW". You claim we sell items for hundreds of dollars over MSRP. Well, the only items I can imagine you are citing have to be our big ticket items such as TVs and our computer systems. You also make a comment about "servi...ce" charges that we couldn't explain. Who walks in to a store, wanst us to trouble shoot a power problem on a laptop and even makes mention of the internal parts of the laptop as being a potential problem....and wants it done for free? We diagnosed her DC jack by taking the laptop completely apart and putting it back together. She had a lose DC jack AND a bad adapter. We charged her $35 for our time and $59.95 for the adapter. Paid $90 for a new $50 power cord because of the "labor" to diagnose the problem.

I was checking out the stores that Potsdam had to offer, and decided to check these guys out, considering they're the only electronics store that accepts Knight Card. Much to my display, I discovered that more expensive items in the store have their prices increased hu...ndreds of dollars past the MSRP. Items like computer parts and accessories were even marked up two or even more times their normal retail prices! When I asked why, they said it was because of "service fees" that they couldn't explain. I do understand that they're a small, family-owned business, but that's no excuse for how obscenely high above the regular retail price their goods are priced at. I'll give them two stars though, because the staff at the Potsdam location is courteous and their textbook prices are thankfully not as insane as their tech prices. Read More

I had purchased a machine elsewhere, but was able to find, fast, courteous, and honest help. A little pricey, but well worth it. Even received a courtesy call three days later to see if everything was alright. I strongly recommend The Computer Guys.
