Cafe Duo
Cafe Duo has taken over Villagio' s and frankly I was afraid the cuisine would go downhill. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on my birthday and were surprised to find things pretty much as usual although the menu is smaller. I order the penne pasta with tomato cre...am sauce and slices of roasted chicken and found it to be very good. My husband had an angel hair pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. There were supposed to be mussels as well but they were out so he got extra shrimp and scallops which was not a problem for him. We enjoyed our lunch are are so glad that there is a place that serves very good Italian cuisine right here in our neighborhood. We'll be back.
True upscale Italian cuisine and class in a small NC town
I called my wife from work today and told her I would like to take her out to somewhere different for dinner, We found our way to the Villagio Italian restaurant in Chocowinity, NC. I must say, I have never been as pleasantly surprised. The Food, Service, Music, and Atm...osphere were totally outstanding! This is absolutely the best Italian restaurant in Eastern North Carolina and is absolutely worth your drive. Due to the unbelievable & outstanding experience the Villagio and it's staff provided us this evening, the Villagio moves to the very top of our favorite Italian restaurants. In fact, it is now one of the top two restaurants of all types we will be dining with. These two are currently tied for #1. I have eaten Italian cuisine all over this country. Never have I tasted better than at the Villagio. I am thankful this business is an eastern NC business.
Small Italian Jewel
It's street setting belies the treat you will experience once you walk through the door at Villagio Cafe. The decor is inviting and encourages friends, old and new, to sit with a glass of wine and reminisce. The service is excellent. Our waiter was well versed in the... menu, able to suggest what he thought were the best dishes. He was always there when we needed something but unobtrusive. How wonderful to eat in a restaurant where everyone knows his job and does it well. But I mustn't leave out the food. Oh my, you will not go away hungry or dissatisfied. Their chef has the talent to bring dishes to their full flavor peak. We brought out of town friends to Villagio recently and they were amazed that we had such a jewel in our small town. We were too full for desert so we brought home raspberry cheese cake to eat later. Oh MY, that was a treat that I can't even describe other than a slice of heaven-smooth, velvety, exactly what a good cheese cake is. We'll be back for sure.

Best Itialian Cafe East of the Mississippi
Drove over from Raleigh. OUTSTANDING. The food, the service and the prices are all unbelievable. You gotta try the signature steak. The calamari and the homemade taramisu were wonderful. You gotta try this place.
Terrible
As a local resident, we have tried to support this restaurant. The food is unremarkable - average at best. The service is consistenly bad. In fact, it is the worst service I've ever seen. This is after numerous attempts to patronize the restaurant - not an isolated ...incident. Be prepared to spend hours - most of them waiting - and then expect your bread to show up for desert after you've received the wrong entree. This place is just not worth it.
