Biker Weekend at SGBC
Savannah Grove Baptist Church announces a Festival of Fellowship with bikers and car enthusiasts on Friday, October 10th through Sunday, October 12th. The family friendly event has been labeled the Bike & Car Rally of the Pee Dee. According to Pastor Ralph W. Canty, ...Sr.,”the weekend of fellowship was divinely inspired to provide greater opportunity for the faith community to identify with bikers from the region and their associates from across the nation. We believe that bikers are the victims of too much negative press. Most of them are wonderful outstanding citizens and people of faith that shouldn’t be shunned simply because they love to ride.” “We are delighted that several community based entities are collaborating with us,” stated, the pastor. Sponsored by HD Riderz, Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, and Honda, the events are designed to be family friendly while serving as an outreach ministry to and for the local community. The weekend’s festival will begin on Friday, October 10th with an opening reception, a meet and greet gathering from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. These events will take place in the Roots of Savannah, the church fellowship hall. Games and specific prizes are a part of the opening festival on Friday night. On Saturday, October 11th organizers have scheduled a parade beginning at 10:00 a.m. (Parade line-ups are at 8:00 a.m.) The parade will proceed from the church and continue east-bound on Alligator Road. Head-lining Saturday’s events are a bike show, a vintage car display, an equestrian demonstration, and a music-and-talent hour. Also scheduled on Saturday are specialty vendors, culinary delights, activities for children (kiddie carnival) and youth. One of the highlights of Saturday’s event will be an auction conducted by a professional auctioneer with proceeds benefitting the ministries of Savannah Grove Baptist Church. Prayer and counselling sessions will be made available all day in the church’s chapel provided by the church’s ministerial council. On Sunday, October 12th, the church will culminate its weekend with Praise and Worship Services in the Savannah Grove Baptist Church sanctuary beginning at 9:45 a.m., followed by after-service fellowship and a cook-out on the church grounds. “We expect several thousand people to join us for the weekend and would be especially proud of the community if they would attend the various events and aid us in hosting our guests,” concluded the pastor. Space is still available for additional vendors as well as for sponsorship. For more information, call Savannah Grove Baptist Church at 843-662-7851 or 843-229-4339.
