Bargain Jewelry Resale

My husband purchased a diamond ring at this store on December 16, 2010. This was a Christmas present from him to me, even though I told him not to buy me any jewelry because I'm very particular about what I like, and I didn't want him to make a big purchase when there ...was a high likelihood that I wouldn't like it! My husband told the store owner that the ring was going to be a Christmas present, and asked if he could return the ring in case I didn't like it. The owner said he usually doesn't take returns; my husband said if I didn't like the ring he would be willing to pay the credit card processing fee of 8% so that the man wouldn't be out any money on the transaction. The owner agreed to this. My husband never would have purchased the ring if the owner had not agreed to take the ring back if I didn't like it. Of course when I got the ring I wasn't ecstatic about it - I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it, and for a large purchase of over $1400 I need to really love the jewelry to keep it. So we called the jewelry store and the owner refused to return our money. He said if it was within 7 days it would be okay, but no more than that. This is not what he told my husband on December 16 when he bought the ring. This place of business is very shady and I was so surprised that my husband would even walk in there and buy something, but he made a mistake in judgment and hopefully learned from the experience.
