MerchantCircle Journal August 2009
If you are like most American local businesses, you are probably still wondering— What’s the big deal with Twitter? And more importantly, how can it help my business? Well, MerchantCircle has one answer for you. We recently launched a new feed, which automatically distributes Merchant-built coupons to city-specific Twitter accounts.
MerchantCircle local business owners each month create over 50,000 online coupons and events. And believe me, thousands of local customers are looking for these coupons online. So here is what we did— MerchantCircle created Twitter accounts in hundreds of local cities. Each city account begins with either "MC" or "MCircle" followed by the city name: for example MCircleChicago or MCIndianapolis. From these accounts, MerchantCircle now tweets your coupons to your local city Twitter page—when you create them. Your customers can now find your coupons and events on Twitter.
In fact, FOX Chicago recently ran a story featuring two of our merchants from Chicago who actively use MerchantCircle to promote their business. The moral of their story was that they gain new exposure to an audience who may not be searching for your business name but searching for deals – in their location. Thus, the MC Twitter accounts allows your business to target a new audiences by word-of-mouth, i.e., retweeting your coupons. Check out the Fox story to the right.
