What is the process for a mechanic's lien?
What do towing companies do when a vehicle is abandoned? What if the vehicle already has a prior lien? Thanks

In Florida, vehicle unclaimed will have legal notice sent to all registered owners, lienholders, and insurance companies on file within 7 days of storage.
A legal advertisement of public auction will also be published in a newspaper distributed to the region, informing any interested party of the vehicle auction date.
If the vehicle is unclaimed for 35 days (most vehicles), the towing company will either auction the vehicle to person placing the highest acceptable bid or obtain a title or certificate of destruction. Once these documents are obtained, the vehicle can be sold or destroyed.
If there is a lien on the vehicle and the lienholder fails to respond within the 35 day period, they lien is nullified - but in some cases can become a civil suit against the borrower via civil suit.
