  1. 10-EIGHT Towing & Transport
Typically, if the vehicle is obstructing business operations, the store owner can have the vehicle towed by signing a tow ticket. The towing company will then notify police of the tow, who will log it. If the vehicle is not obstructing business operations, notice must be posted 24 hours in advance. This can be accomplished via signs on the property or by posting notice in the vehicle. This is a general overview. Each municpality has its own ordinances dictating the procedure that must be followed.

  2. JBL Towing
Here in Jacksonville, Fl - the property owner must have a signed contract with a towing company & signs posted (signage is key)that unauthorized parking on their property is subject to towing (ex: strip mall, there is a day care there but there is also a restaurant there, rest folks park in day care spots. There are signs posted at 2 entrances to day care parking that unauthorized vehicles will be towed, with the name of the towing company, their address & phone #). If the vehicle is towed it may NOT leave the county, the towing company/storage yard must be in the same county that the towed from business is in (ex: business is in St Johns county but tower is in Duval county - not legal. If unauthorized vehicle towed from St Johns county business the vehicle must be stored in St Johns county). This is considered a private property/trespass tow. The Fla state statute is 715.07. We personally do not provide trespass tow service.

Some Towing companys just do it , hoping that they get away with it . But the law says that the tow must be ordered by a police officer . We do not do that as it is not legal . Below is an excert from the law regarding this mater "349.13(3m) REMOVAL - TRESPASS PARKING

(3m) No vehicle involved in trespass parking on a private parking lot or facility shall be removed without the permission of the vehicle owner, except upon the issuance of a repossession judgment or upon formal complaint and a citation for illegal parking issued by a traffic or police officer."
