What is a gooseneck hitch? 
I am being adviced to use a gooseneck hitch by my friends on my truck. What exactly is it and the advantages?

The gooseneck hitch is a hitch that is smaller than other standard trailer hitches. It has a higher towing capacity which is less than that of the fifth wheel hitch. The hitch is capable of towing livestock trailers and fifth wheel trailers. The hitch takes up very little space on the bed of the truck during installation.
