About Cloth for Women
There are many types of cloth used in women’s clothing. The cloth greatly influences the comfort and design of the clothing made. Certain fabrics are used for only a specific purpose, while others have multiple uses. When choosing what cloth to purchase, consider the care level it requires.
Cotton
Cotton is a wonderful natural fabric that works well in both warm and cool weather. The thing to remember is that cotton shrinks. If you purchase 100 percent cotton clothing, you must hang dry the clothes or risk shrinking. Some clothing is made in a cotton blend to prevent shrinkage.
Linen
This is a very natural fabric that much like cotton works in both cool and warm weather. Linen requires extra care, it is best to dry clean it, but can be hand washed if you prefer.
Silk
A great fabric fro night gowns, evening dresses and blouses for special occasions. Be careful not to get it wet, water can stain the fabric. Dry clean is best for this shiny and light fabric.
Wool
A thick fabric that is slightly scratchy. Used for suits and winter clothing because of its warmth. Dry clean this fabric to keep the wool looking its best.
Rayon
Typically used as a light suit fabric, must be dry cleaned. Rayon feels similar to silk in texture and weight.
Polyester
Can be both dry cleaned and machine washed. Polyester is a manmade material that has a heavy feel to it. It does not breathe well so it is best to not wear it in warm weather.
