About Fish Farming Tools
Farm fishing is a method of raising fish in captivity for food. The fish are typically kept in tanks or enclosures and taken care of until they grow large enough to sell for food. Those who practice farm fishing use different tools to do the job.
Irrigation Ditch
A ditch called an irrigation ditch is one of the tools used for farm fishing. The ditches are dug in order to raise the fish inside. The main purpose of the ditch is to retain water and cut out the need for large aquariums. The size of the ditch differs, depending on the size or quantity of fish that will be held captive inside of it. The ditch has an irrigation system build on land near the ditch that is used to control the water quality and provide proper living ground for the fish to thrive.
Cages
A cage is tool used in farm fishing to keep the fish enclosed and protected. The tanks are typically very large in size and allow food and water to circulate in and out of the area. The fish are placed in the cages when they are very young and left in them until they are large enough to harvest. Keeping the fish enclosed keeps them protected from predators and ensures that the fish don’t escape before the harvest time has come.
Aquariums
Some fish farms use large aquariums to keep the fish captivated. The aquariums are created to replicate the living environment the fish requires and many different types of fish are often mixed together. The fish live in this aquarium their entire life until they are ready to be sold for food. When the fish reproduce, the smaller fish are removed and put into another tank in order to prevent other species of fish from eating the offspring.
