About Geothermal Drilling Grants

As oil and energy reserves continue to be a point of contention around the world. More and more companies around the world are searching for sustainable energy and have turned from oil, gas and coal to geothermal energy. This form of energy is not only sustainable; it’s also cost effective and environmentally friendly, too.

United States

In the USA, California is leading the way in the research and development of geothermal energy. California's Geothermal Program gives out awards, loans and grants to individuals who are qualified in geothermal power generation. Its program has been a success and has increased the development in drilling, research and commercialization of geothermal projects statewide.

California offers the greatest potential for geothermal energy of any state in the USA, thanks to its ideal location on the tectonic plates.

Australia

Australia has followed California’s lead by launching its own Geothermal Program that is aimed at helping to develop its own geothermal industry. Over $50 million dollars in grants will be awarded to individuals and companies who encourage geothermal innovation in Australia. This country hopes to establish itself as the world’s leader in geothermal energy generation.

Chile

Major companies in the geothermal industry are eager to explore Chile’s untapped geothermal energy potential. The goal is to develop geothermal energy to help grow Chile's economy and offer citizens an alternative source of stable and renewable power. To qualify for this grant, companies must have their project budget set at no more than $8 million (USD), plus be licensed to explore in the country.
