About Women's Made to Measure Suits
A suit can be an asset for the woman who works in a business environment. Well tailored and professional attire sends a subtle message: she is competent, put together and capable. Women’s suits can be custom made-to-measure, or off the rack.
Bespoke
A bespoke suit refers to a completely custom suit. Every single piece of the suit is made from a measurement taken by a tailor. The customer chooses every aspect of the suit, from the color to the fabric to the buttons and collar. It generally takes 50 plus hours of skilled labor to construct a bespoke suit because it is completely hand-stitched. The term bespoke refers to the British custom suit, made famous in London in the late 1800s by gentlemen seeking quality clothing. Savile Row continues to be the premier business suit retail establishment in London, and today’s customers feature almost as many women as men.
Made-to-measure
A made to measure suit is partially custom. Manufacturers produce a certain number of suit designs and colors. Those are cut into loose suit patterns that are not to fit a specific size. Once a customer orders a made-to-measure suit, it is then trimmed down to fit the customer and finished. Italian suits, world renowned for luxurious fabrics and fine craftsmanship, are often made-to-measure suits. The French couture market has ventured into the made-to-measure suit market and is known for pushing convention. Most commonly chosend fabrics are wool, cashmere and even animal hides.
