Best Way to Send a Fax From Windows XP
Windows XP offers fax capability through its Fax service software. When you want to send a fax, a helpful fax wizard helps guide you through the step by step process, and later allows you to check the status of a fax to be sure it was successfully transmitted.
- Open the program you wish to send a fax from, such as Microsoft Word or Excel.
- Go to the "File" menu and select "Print."
- Click "Fax" in the "Name" field when the "Print" dialog box pops up. This launches the Fax Wizard.
- Click the "Next" button to proceed through the Fax wizard dialog box.
- Fill out the recipient's name in the "To" field and fax number in the field labeled "Fax Number." Alternately, add the recipient from your address book.
- Click "Add" for additional recipients one at a time, being sure to completely fill out the information for each recipient.
- Click "Next" after you have finished adding recipients.
- Choose your preferred template for the cover letter in the Cover Page template field.
- Make any necessary corrections to the "Sender" information on the cover page.
- Complete "Subject" and "Note" fields on the cover page.
- Click the "Next" button to proceed to scheduling.
- Select a specific time to send the fax, or click "Now" to send it immediately.
- Choose the priority for your fax and click "Next." If you are sending multiple faxes, a higher priority sends this one through before the lower priority faxes.
- Confirm the settings and if everything is correct, click "Finish" to begin sending your fax.
