How to Send a Fax From an International Number
People with international contacts may need to send an international fax from time to time. Some people have to send documents to another country, especially when traveling or trying to enter a country. Another reason for sending one is sending important documents to family members. The process is easy for faxing to an international number.
- Find the country code. Before sending a fax, you will need a country code for the country. If you are sending a fax to Belize, then you would use the country code 501. There are a variety of online websites with a list of country codes.
- Use a fax machine that allows international faxes. The fax machine must have international coverage before being able to send a fax to another country.
- Send a cover sheet with the documents. It is important to send a cover sheet so the recipient will know who it is from and the number of documents. A cover sheet also prevents important documents from getting lost.
- Dial 011, the country code, city code and the phone number. 011 is similar to dialing one for long distance calls instead you would dial 011 for international calls. Most public fax machines will have instructions for making an international call.
- Press the “Send” button. After typing in the number and listening for the call to pick up, send the document through the feeder tray. Listen to the dialing noises to make sure the fax goes through. Most fax machines will print a status report, which will display the results of the fax. The report will let the user know if the transaction was complete or not.
