Cheap Ideas for Home Decor
Just because your budget is small or nothing at all, doesn't mean your home should have to suffer from a lack of decor. There are lots of affordable, easy ways to make a plain home, a beautiful home that is unique to you. With a few materials, or just changing things up, and a bit of creativity, you can have the look you want.
- Paint. Paint is affordable and can make a huge difference in the appearance of a home. You can make your home cheery with bright colors or more relaxing with subtle colors. Also, you can add designs with paint by painting shapes, stripes, or even a mural.
- Make art. Instead of buying a pricey painting, make your own painting. It can be as extravagant or simple as you like. Also, try frameless art. An art piece's frame can be pricey, but by only buying the art and not the frame, you can save big bucks.
- Add simple pieces. You don't have to over-do it to have a nicely decorated home. Find affordable simple pieces like a throw pillow in a pretty shade or a vase in a unique shape. These little things may seem small, but they can add a lot to your home.
- Utilize savings stores. Dollar stores have craft sections where you can pick up items to cheaply build your own wreaths, centerpieces, wall decor, and knick-knacks. Antique shops have unique items that can be bought at affordable prices. Craft fairs have a large selection of home decor items at reasonable prices, often with the craft pieces being handmade and unlike any other piece.
- Frame items. Buy cheap, clear frames and add different items like feathers, leaves, and pieces of fabric to design neat art. You can hang it on your wall or set it on a shelf.
- Buy plants. Seasonal plants are reasonably priced and can add a lot of life and pizzazz to your home. Paint or use craft material to make plain pots pretty and replant your plants into them.
- Add a little fabric and texture to your home. A fuzzy rug, a soft shower curtain, or kitchen towels can be bought cheaply. Plus they add that little extra to your home while making your house cozier. Buy them in colors and patterns that go with your home.
- Change things up. Instead of buying or making all new decor, try changing the place where you set your decor items. Move your furniture around and switch the photos you have framed. You can give your place a whole new look by simply changing where things are place. Plus, it costs zero dollars to achieve!
