Cheap Interior Design Ideas

Every once in a while it is fun to try a new interior design idea in your home to give everything a fresh new look. Switching out accessories, adding house plants, buying new shades or painting makes a delightful change to interior design for very little money. There are several cheap interior design ideas to get creative.

  • Paint for fun and color. Try changing out the paint color in a couple of rooms. Repaint your bedroom to match a new bed spread. Or buy a new shower curtain and paint the walls of the bathroom to match.

  • Shop for an inexpensive shelving unit. Add a shelving unit in the living room or your home office. Move some house plants to the shelf with your favorite knick-knacks. Home Depot, hardware stores and  other home improvement centers offer some pretty good deals for shelving.

  • Replace a set of drapes with mini blinds or try some woven wood blinds. Try new inexpensive vertical blinds on patio doors for a big change.

  • Splurge for a tall indoor tree that would look perfect in the entry way hall. Consider adding an old antique coat rack as well.

  • Switch all your house plants into different rooms for a new look. Try buying some inexpensive flowering varieties.

  • Use a decorative room divider. Separate a large living room into a smaller living room and a sitting room on the side.

  • Plan a shopping trip over to the dollar store and search for cheap throw rugs. Pick up a couple of brightly colored rugs to accent furniture pieces and drapes through out the house.

  • Start an herb space in your kitchen and have a little fun. They look really cute in kitchens and add spice to your cooking.

  • Visit several yards sales, thrift stores or go to the swap meet. Find bargains on used end tables to change the look of a family or living room.

  • Shop for inexpensive coffee, sugar and flour canister sets in bright colors. Use these to add a cheerful addition to your kitchen counters.
