How to Find a Job in Transportation

Cheapest Types of Transportation

The cheapest form of transportation depends on where you live. People who live in the city may have a wider variety of transportation options available to them than people who live in the suburbs. For each mode of transportation, there are good and bad factors that must be considered.

Walking

Walking is by far the cheapest mode of transportation. Other than shoes, there is no extra material that needs to be purchased to walk from one destination to the next. However, walking is not always practical, as destinations can be far and the weather may not always 3be conducive to a walk.

Bicycle

Bicycling is an inexpensive form of transportation that tends to get you to your destination faster than walking. Bicycling in a busy city or on a busy roadway can be dangerous, and bicycles are not allowed on US freeways, thus making a direct path to your destination almost impossible. Bicyclers are also exposed to the elements just like walkers. Bicycling in sideways rain, snow, or even on a hot humid day may not be a viable option.

Buses, subways, trains

It only costs of couple of dollars to take a local bus, subway, or train. In cities with a highly developed transportation system, such as New York City, these are viable options as the buses, trains, and subways are reliable and usually on time. Someone who lives in the suburbs or a more sprawling city may not have the option of reliable bus, train, or subway transportation. Additionally, the farther you need to go to get to your destination, the more you will pay for your fare.
