Common Weight Workout Machines
Weight machines have been a workout staple in fitness for many years. Weight machines are great for building muscle and burning fat away from the body. Common weight machines work out the parts of the body that people focus on the most; legs, gluts and arms.
Leg press
The leg press works the gluts, hamstrings, quadriceps and calf muscles while seated. You use the leg press buy placing both feet on a platform and pushing the platform away from your body. You can adjust the weight by adding more weights to the bar or adjusting the pin to the appropriate weight on the stack.
Hamstring Curl
The hamstring curl works the hamstrings and gluts. After lying face down on the bench, you wrap your lower legs around the pads of the machine. Then you slowly curl you lower legs up towards your butt and lower back down again slowly until legs are almost locked.
Chest press
The chest press works the pectorals, which is one of the first things lifters focus on when bodybuilding. To use a chest press you sit in a seat with a tall backrest. There is a handle on each side of the body that you grip and then after adjusting your weight push the handles forward, away from the body. Then you slowly bring them back to starting position.
Cable Machine
A cable machine is a machine that has various cables that you can use to build up different parts of the body by adding different amounts of weight to the stacks connected to each cable. Using a cable bar you can do bicep curls, cable crunches, cable crosses and tricep pushdowns.
