Furniture was made up of a mixture of leathers, ivory, mother-of-pearl in addition to gold and silver leaf. These different materials are combined with glass, metals and synthetic plastic.

The modern contemporary style is made up mostly of simple designs. Materials used include plywood, iron, and vinyl. The colors for this style of contemporary furniture have a wide range. Both neutrals and bolds can be used as well as the addition of metallic colors.

This contemporary furniture tends to be a reproduction of the furniture of these times and many times people just acquire the original pieces from these decades. Popular Retro contemporary furniture includes chrome dinettes, Formica tables and modular chairs.
