Convenience Store Managers Job Description
A convenience store is a small shop that offers many different products available for purchase. A manager is assigned to each store. The manager of the store has several responsibilities that make for a good working environment, employee regulations and money management.
Convenience store managers are responsible for running the store. The manager works under the owner of the store and is responsible for the produce and money matters within the store. The manager signs for products when they are delivered and is responsible for inventory management. Inventory is managed through a charting system that compares the amount of products to the money made from the products. This number needs to match or the manager is responsible for figuring out where the difference went.
The manager is responsible for the finances of the store. They must count the drawer money before and after each shift, deposit the money in the safe and transport the money to the bank when the store closes. They must calculate the money made from items sold, lottery and gas sales. This amount is reported to the owner of the store each week. The manager tracks the money on a tally sheet and submits the sheet to the owner.
A convenience store manager does the hiring and firing for the business. They interview the potential employees and decide if they would be good for the position. The manager creates a work schedule for the employees and assigns them jobs that they are responsible for each week, such as cleaning. The convenience store manager also reviews the security cameras to ensure no stealing is occurring among the employees or from customers.
