How to Make a Bridle Rack

DIY Bridle Rack

Bridles are an essential piece of equipment for many horse riders. The bridle is made up of several components fitting over the horse's head and face that work together to help guide the horse in the direction desired by the rider. A good bridle rack will help to keep your bridle properly stored in a stable or tack room.

There are a variety of ways that you can construct a bridle rack for your tack room or stable. For a simple bridle rack that you can create easily at home, use the following set of instructions. Keep in mind that after you feel confident building a simple bridle rack, you can incorporate a number of variations and design elements in order to make your bridle rack more unique.

Items Needed:

  • Pegboard

  • Pegs

  • Furring strips

  • Stud finder

  • Hammer

  • Nails

  • Screwdriver

  • Screws

  • Wall hooks

Instructions:

  1. Use the stud finder to locate a place on the wall where you can hang the pegboard. If the wall studs are exposed, you will not need to use a stud finder.

  2. Attach some furring strips to the wall studs. This will create a nice space between the wall and the pegboard where you can insert the pegs.

  3. Place the pegboard centered over the furring strips. Hold it in place while you secure it to the wall with nails or screws.

  4. Insert the pegs onto the pegboard.

  5. Hang your bridles onto the pegs.

Tip:

  • Another quick and inexpensive way to hang your bridles is to simply install wall hooks inside your stable. Be sure to attach the hooks onto wall studs in order to support the weight of the bridles.
