How to Install Corrugated Metal Siding.

DIY Corrugated Metal Siding

The pattern of corrugated metal works to capture water and move it away, making it useful in roofing applications. Corrugated metal is used as roofing for housing, businesses and other building structures. Apart from roofing, corrugated metal is used to cover the sides of walls.

  1. Choose the required metal for the siding job. Not all metals are used for siding for covering your external or internal wall.

  2. Decide on the panel application. Panel application is how you would want the metal sidings to appear. There are two common panel applications and they include the horizontal paneling and the vertical paneling.

  3. Start placing panels. If you decide on the horizontal, start placing the panels from the bottom. Ensure that you fasten the panel against the wall by using screws at an interval of 12 inches around the panel. If the application that you choose for your panels is vertical, then place the panel vertically from the furthest end of the wall and fasten it against the wall.

  4. Place more panels. Continue adding panels to the wall by overlapping. Overlapping is important because it ensures that water does not run into the walls that have been covered by the corrugated metals. Ensure that the metal panels are of the right size by trimming them until you ensure that the wall s completely covered.

  5. Add metal flashing. If the area between the wall and the roof is not well covered the possibility of the rain water getting to the wall behind the metal panels is high, the metal flashing are normally bent to direct water away from the building. Other areas that should be covered are the points where the walls meet and this can be done by adding corner coverings.
