DIY Electronic Parts Cleaner
One of the primary reasons that electronic instruments fail is due to dust. Unfortunately electricity attracts dust so this will always be an ongoing battle. One of the things that you can do to prevent this from happening is to dust and dust often. There are some other things you can do other than just dusting.
- Buy some micro fiber cloths for dusting your electronic equipment. These cloths will trap dust in its fibers unlike regular cloth, which primarily just moves it around. Regular cloth can even push it into smaller areas you can’t see. These micro fiber cloths can be found in most electronic stores.
- Clean the smaller areas and hard to get to places with a foam swab and isopropyl alcohol. This is how you can get in-between those keys on the keyboard and all the other tight places computer and electronic equipment seems to have in abundance.
- Clean the outer surfaces of electrical devices with a mix of two teaspoons of white vinegar and a quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray to lightly wet the surface and wipe with a micro fiber cloth or newspaper. Newspaper will prevent streaking unlike cloths.
- Avoid spilling anything on electronic equipment as any liquid and electric components just never mix. Having said that it will eventually happen to all of us. You must immediately turn off the device and if it is plugged in unplug it. Wipe as much of the liquid as is possible from the equipment. If the liquid made it into the electronics you may want to consider having a professional take a look at it. They have much better ways to repair this type of problem without damaging the device.
