Parents can easily take an active role in planning out the decorations for a birthday party at a roller skating rink.  They can check the color scheme of the room at the skating rink and match the colors of the balloons, plates, cups, etc.  Sometimes the skating rink will be able to provide some of these utensils and party favors.  Check with the links in your area to see what amenities they offer for birthday parties.  For example, some skating rinks offer personalized birthday boxes at the door such that guests can place their gifts inside of them. The parents of the birthday boy or girl can bring the box into the birthday room as a surprise.

Choose a Theme for Your Party

By choosing a theme at the outset, you can quickly put together a convincing backdrop for your roller skating party.  For example, if your child and his or her friends have a favorite cartoon, you can create pictures of that cartoon character and hang them up on the walls of your party room at the rink.  Allowing the children to dress up as their favorite cartoon character also works well, or just having them dress up in certain colors.  A glow-in-the-dark theme is another possibility.  You can hang up black lights around the darkened skating rink and have your guests wear neon or white clothing which will light up in black light.
