Disadvantages and Advantages of Online Ads
There is great potential to attract a lot of customers when you advertise online. However, there are some areas where online advertising falls short in comparison to other advertising methods. Not every product can be sold with the same approach.
Affordability
If you place ads on a radio or television station you’re likely to pay a lot more every month than if you place ads online. Of course online advertising prices vary based on where you advertise. There are some really inexpensive online advertising methods that can bring great results. Many businesses simply use social networking sites or message boards to do their advertising and reach tons of people. Many social networking sites and message boards do not charge you to sign up.
Demographics
If you’re trying to sell something that appeals to a younger crowd then online advertising may work very well for you. However, if you’re trying to sell a product to someone over the age of 50 it will probably be more difficult. The use of computers and the Internet is still a somewhat new thing. A senior citizen may not have taken the time to learn how to use a computer or get online.
Local Crowds
If you wish to get people into your store to buy items advertising locally will probably work better. People don’t often travel long distances to visit stores. If you place your ads in a local newspaper, on a local radio station or television station you can hit local people directly with your advertising.
