Easy High Protein Bars Recipe

Creating high-protein energy bars can be beneficial in several ways. As the maker, you control the quality of ingredients used in the bars and can customize the flavor to suit your specific taste. Protein powder is used in the recipe and it has an important effect on the finished product. Choose a protein powder that tastes good mixed with water create a shake. For the peanut butter bars, use 100 percent whey protein powder with 80 calories and 22-grams of protein per quarter-cup measure. Whey, soy or egg protein powders can all be used to create protein bars.


You need



  • 1 cup old fashioned or quick oats

  • 1¼ cups vanilla protein powder

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ cup low-fat cottage cheese

  • ¼ cup water

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 cup natural peanut butter



  1. Put the oats in a blender and process until they resemble flour, then put them in a large bowl.

  2. Add the protein powder to the oats and stir together. Feel free to experiment with flavor combinations. Chocolate protein powder works equally well.

  3. In the blender, combine the honey, vanilla extract, cottage cheese, water and cinnamon. Whir until smooth and uniform in color and consistency.

  4. Add to the dry oats mixture, then some peanut butter. Mix until well combined. Consider almond, cashew or sunflower seed butter as an alternative to the peanut butter. Flavored extracts, miniature marshmallows, chocolate chips, dried fruits, chopped nuts and coconut are all possibilities to change the flavor of the bars.

  5. Line a 9-by-9-inch pan with aluminum and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.

  6. Pour the batter into the pan and refrigerate for two hours.

  7. Cut into eight bars. Each has 300 calories and 24 grams of protein. Remember to adjust the calorie content if you alter the base recipe.
