FAQ About Landscaping Designers
Your home is your personal expression of who you are. The outside of your home is a statement to the world about who you are, and who lives inside. Your lawn is one place to start customizing your home; however, landscape design is one large job to undertake on your own. Hire a landscape designer to execute your ideas and personality through into yard.
Q. What is a Landscape Designer?
A. A Landscape Designer is a professional who has experience and training in the process of designing, creating and executing landscape changes.
Q. Why should I use a Landscape Designer?
A. Experience! Landscape Designers do this for a living. They are both creative and working professionals, many times with years of experience. You will be getting a level of quality that you may not be able to achieve on your own.
Q. Will I be involved in the work?
A. That's entirely up to you. If you hire a landscape designer, then they are working for you. If you want to have your ideas executed, the designer will be more than happy to comply. You're the customer and should always come first. However, you must understand that the designer is experienced and may have useful opinions.
Q. How much will design work cost ?
A. That depends on the extent of the work. Most designers are happy to come out and offer a free quote; some may even take photos and provide a 3D mockup of the space. It is always a good idea to have multiple quotes lined up and to mention to the designers that you are shopping around. The best place you can be is in the middle of a bidding war. You can also have your design applied to the space in smaller manageable sections. This will help keep the price down if you are bargain conscious.
Q. How long will the work take?
A. Depending on the work, it can take anywhere from one day to a few months. You may want to do the work in sections; however, this will increase the time from concept to finish. Your designer will be able to give you a firm time table, just ask.
Q. What if I don't like the work?
A. This is a problem with any service, there is always the risk that you will be unhappy with the completed project. You need to speak with your designer before, during and after the process. Make sure they are always following your directions. Ask ahead of time what your designer offers if your are unhappy. You will be signing a contract that stipulates this, so read it carefully and do not sign anything that you are unsure about.
Q. What maintenance is required once the work is complete?
A. That is dependent on the work that is done. On average, the same upkeep you do on your lawn and exterior spaces now, is what will be required once the work is complete.
