Find Undergraduate Business Schools

Finding the right undergraduate business school can be a difficult process. Many applicants choose schools based on overall reputation, instead of evaluating particular programs. Choosing a school based on business programs alone is slightly more difficult than the general approach, but far from impossible.

  1. Make a list of the different schools that you are considering. Be sure to take a quick look at the business programs offered.

  2. Decide what type of business that you are most interested in. The popular types of business degrees include accounting, business management, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship. This step is important because some schools may have well-respected economics programs, but less-than-stellar options in marketing.

  3. Create a database, using a spreadsheet is a good idea, of the different schools you are considering. Include important factors such as location, specific degrees offered, reputation of the business school as a whole, and any of the contact information for advisers and staff members employed by the school.

  4. Speak with your high-school counselor about the schools in which you are interested. Counselors often contain a wealth of information related to the different colleges and universities in your area, and many of them are even familiar with specific academic departments.

  5. Contact one of the staff members that work with the business schools you are considering. Discuss the quality of their program and ask questions related to the qualifications of the staff members, any school-rankings that you are not aware of, and the student-to-teacher ratio.

  6. Do some of your own research to confirm what your counselor and each school's representatives have told you. Some websites even post rankings of the business departments of various colleges and universities all over the nation.
