Grants for Single Women Entrepreneurs
Grants for women entrepreneurs who want to succeed are out there to be found with a little time doing research and staying organized. Statistically, women are at least 60 percent more likely to succeed in a new business, and research has shown they are also more likely to start a non-profit or get a college degree.
- Go to your favorite search engine and use keywords that are pertinent to you and your situation. There are grants for furthering your education, both undergraduate and graduate, and grants for starting your own business. Even grants to help single women with child care. Grants may be available for your geographical location or your race. Sometimes, corporate giants will sponsor schoarships or grants for women entering a particular business field.
- Locate grant money you will qualify for and fill out all application papers required. Some application processes will require letters of recommendation, so know in advance whom to ask. Many people will take a few weeks to write and send such letters to you, so be aware of any time requirements for your application.
- Submit your application and statement of intent to the donating organization and wait. A statement of intent describes how you plan on using the funding and how your plans compliment the goals of the organization. You will also have to promise that any funds you receive will be used in the proper manner. Most grants will give you an idea of how long it takes to announce recipients on the website, but usually a few months.
- Apply for additional grants! There is not a limit to the number of grants you can apply for as long as you qualify.
