Homemade Auto Detailing Solutions

Auto detailing is key to keeping your car looking new. Taking a car to get detailed at a professional can be quite expensive. That is why there are alternative solutions such as creating an auto detail solution at home. There are quite a few homemade solutions for detailing your car.

For the car wash solution you will need:

• A bucket


• Warm water


• Dish washing liquid


• Cleaning rags


• Powdered laundry soap


• Gloves

For the car wax solution you will need:

• 1 tablespoon of beeswax


• At least 8oz of Carnauba wax


• Pine oil (optional)

1. Prepare the mixture. When preparing the mixture it is ideal to wear gloves in order to prevent your skin from interacting with the solution directly. Make sure to not breathe in the solution while mixing.


2. Pour 2 gallons of water into a bucket and then a cup of liquid soap. Additional liquid may be added to provide a thicker detailing mixture. 


3. Add in 3/4 cup of a powdered of laundry soap. Make sure to not use a soap that contains bleach as it can fade the vehicle.


4. When making the wax solution a double broiler will be needed to allow it to boil without burning. Add everything except for the pine oil, and turpentine. 


5. Stir in the oil and turpentine once the other solutions have properly mixed. Once it begins to boil remove it immediately from the broiler. After it is warm to touch you may then begin to apply the wax to the vehicle with a clean cloth or shammy.
