How To Attach a Clasp to a Necklace
Often after purchasing a necklace after wearing it for a period of time, the clasp may break off completely. There is actually an affordable way of fixing the clasp, rather than buying a new necklace completely. You will only need a few tools, which is easily under $10.00 and takes less than a half hour to repair.
To get started on fixing your necklace you will need pliers, needle-nosed pliers, a jump ring (to reattach the clasp), string (if the string is broken) and a few replacement clasps. Make sure to use a magnifying glass in order to closely view the clasp while working on it. If the clasp is not off completely you will need to make sure to remove it completely by using a pair of pliers or scissors. You can detach the jump ring to apply a new clasp.
- Remove the clasp with pliers, or you may cut it off.
- After purchasing a new clasp, you will also need to purchase a jump ring.
- Open the jump ring and then attach it to the end of the necklace.
- Once done close the ring. The clasp will now be secured to the necklace.
