How To Get Your Pets in Show Business

You've seen pet commercials and have probably said to yourself, “My dog or cat is cuter!” Pets get into show business based on many factors, such as their temperament, ability to act natural even around and camera equipment. You can help your pet be a star by working with them when they are young.

  1. Begin training your pet from
the very beginning. This means if you bring your puppy or kitten home at 10
weeks old, you need to begin the training as soon as they adjust to the new environment. Young pets are impressionable and
can pick up on what you want better than an older pet (in most
    cases).

  2. Socialize your pet early on as
well. Introduce them to many new people, sounds, crowds, bright
lights, and loud noises. These are aspects of show business that
your pet will be exposed to on a set, so they must be used to it without a bad reaction. Begin socializing your pet as soon as they have had
    all their shots.

  3. Begin your puppy with basic
commands such as “sit” “stay” and “roll over.” Use
treats to reward him or her for doing what you want. Some puppies
will take to these simple commands much easier than others. Take
your puppy to an obedience class, this will help you to learn how to
train your dog. If you have a kitten, socializing is very important,  since cats tend to be loners.

  4. After your dog has the basic
commands down then you can start training using the fun tricks. For
instance, teaching your dog to “high-five” or “playing dead”
can be entertaining. Train in various places around many different
people. This helps the dog focus on the command and not become
distracted. Use yummy treats to keep your dog's focus. For kittens,
as they are growing up, look for their unique characteristics.  All
cats have something to offer and you can expand on this to help them with their
    stardom!

  5. Begin taking photos of your pet
and send them to talent agencies. Get the best photos you can
because this is all the agency has to go on. Make sure you pet is
groomed very well. Check out the
    National Alternative Pet
    Association
for some local talent agencies for pets. If your pet
has what it takes, you will soon begin getting phone calls and you
might just see your pet on television!
