How To Install a Spa Light
A spa creates a relaxing atmosphere to be free from the cares and stress of the day. The jets help sooth and relax tired, overworked muscles. Installing a light in your spa creates a beautiful effect on the water and adds to the ambience of the spa, while at the same time having the practical effect of bringing light in dark areas.
Installing a spa light:
- Feed the cord through the conduit leading to the junction box. Make sure to allow at least four feet of cord, which wraps around the light and allows for servicing of the light once the spa is full of water.
- Sever the cord at the box, allowing six inches of the cord to make necessary connections.
- Carefully cut into six inches of the outer jacket of the cord, exposing the three insulated wires. Take care to make sure you don't damage the insulation on these inner wires.
- Connect the three wires to the proper circuit wires located in the junction box, corresponding to their color code. The wires need to be in the proper corresponding location to avoid electrical sparks and short-circuits. Secure the box cover into place.
- Install the light assembly into the groove, tightening the bronze-colored pilot screw, which secures the light assembly into place.
- Run water into the spa until the light is under water. Make sure that the light is under water before turning it on.
- Turn on the main switch, or the breaker. The light should turn on when the power is applied. You should be able to use the spa light at this point.
