How To Make Domino Jewelry

Dominos can be easily made into jewelry; either pins or pendants.  To make domino jewelry you can use either the old fashioned wooden dominos or the plastic. The other supplies that you will need are miscellaneous papers (vintage images, scrap booking paper, and text or words from magazines), a sponge brush or paintbrush, scissors, a decoupage medium, adhesive glue and jump-rings or pin-backs.

Once you become more comfortable making the domino jewelry, you can become more creative by adding sequins, glitter, beads and even pieces of lace. The basic instructions include:

  1. Select your base paper. This will be the largest piece of paper that will cover the plain side of the domino. Trace around the domino with a pencil and cut out your base paper.

  2. Apply a thin coat of decoupage medium to the domino (on the plain side) using the small paintbrush or sponge brush.  Adhere your base paper to the domino, gently pressing to make sure it sticks. Remove any bubbles and lumps and then set aside to dry completely.

  3. Select the images or snippets that you have chosen for your design. Arrange them in a collage on your domino’s base paper. Use a thin coat of decoupage medium to adhere your images to your domino. This is where you can become as creative as you want.  Once you are finished set aside your creation until completely dry. Once the artwork is dry, apply another coat of decoupage medium to seal the design.

If you were making a pendant, your next step would be to adhere a jump-ring to the top edge of your domino with a strong adhesive. The pin-back would be adhered if you were making a pin brooch.
