How To Make an Oven for a Sauna

A sauna can bring a welcome and relaxing end to a stress filled day.  Saunas can come in a variety of styles and use a number of different heat sources.  Thoroughly exploring and researching the options will lead to an overall more enjoyable finished product.

A sauna can help bring a stressful day to a relaxing end.  For the homeowner looking to add a sauna onto their existing home, there are sauna kits available to construct a sauna to their own liking.  One of the first considerations before beginning the undertaking is the type of heater to be used.  Sauna heaters or ovens are typically purchased based on the specifics of the overall sauna project.

  • Determine the size of the sauna heater to be used.  If you are building a personal sauna with a one or two person capacity, ensure that you do not use an oversized sauna heater.  An oversized heater in a small space will result in feeling a searing and burning type of heat.  This will not make the sauna experience a pleasant one.  Bigger does not translate to better.

  • Determine the type of heater to be used.  Sauna heaters are available in electric, gas, wood burning, or heated rock.  If an electric heater is used, a certified electrician must install it, and it should be properly sized depending on the size of your completed sauna room.

  • Consider overall pricing of your sauna project.  Of the various types of sauna heaters, a gas heater can be the most pricy to install.  When planning the overall design of your sauna, you will want to price individual options and amenities so that your project will come in under or at budget.
