How to Make Animal Ear Headbands

Animal ear headbands are an easy craft that you can make for a child's Halloween costume, to celebrate Easter or for a birthday party. By using a few simple materials, you can create any type of animal your child desires. It is even possible to simplify these instructions with the use of construction paper for an easy child's project.

The fun of making the animal ear headbands is deciding what kind of animal you want to be. When gathering supplies, you should have an idea if you want to make a bunny, a dog, a cat or any other animal.

Materials Needed

  • Plastic headband
  • Felt or Fun Foam, in colors to match the animal you want to make
  • Craft glue, fabric glue or a hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Pen or pencil

    1. Draw the animal ears onto the foam or felt and cut them out. Use foam for sturdy ears or felt for floppy ears. If making bunny ears, they should be large and oval-shaped, dog ears should be large and floppy and cat ears should be triangular. Once cut, set the ears aside.

    2. Glue a strip of felt or foam the same color as the ears across the top of the headband to hide the plastic. This helps to make it look more finished.

    3. Once the glue dries, it is time to glue the ears to the headband. Another option for attaching the ears is to sew them on the headband. This option will make the animal ear headband a little more permanent.
