How to Accessorize Formal Evening Dress

So you found the perfect evening dress for the special occasion next weekend.  But just how do you accessorize to complete that outfit?  You will need to keep a few things in mind when deciding on what accessories you are going to use with your formal wear.

Jewelry Accessories

• If you are wearing a necklace and a bracelet, be sure that they match the outfit you are wearing.


• Pearls match well with any outfit and they do not have to be real ones either.


• Tennis bracelets make a stunning look for an evening affair.


• If you are wearing earrings for a formal event, nice pearls or diamonds are perfect.  Nice dangling earrings would be perfect as well.


• If you have medium to long hair length, you have a few choices when it comes to accessorizing your hair.  Hair clips or fresh lilies would compliment any outfit.


• Ankle bracelets always complete any formal wear.

Shoes, Shawls and Bags

• You want shoes that won’t hurt your feet but that are dressy at the same time.  If you plan to do any dancing, wear flats or low-heeled shoes.


• If you are wearing pantyhose, be sure they are a neutral color.


• If it is a cool fall evening, wearing a shawl that matches your formal wear, will look amazing.


• For an evening bag, carry one that is just small enough to put credit cards, cash, keys and makeup.
